Christmas tree craft
The creative craft idea: a colorful Christmas tree made from cardboard
Quick to make and decorate: even the youngest children can make this Christmas tree
Crafts during the Advent season are fun for all children. The creative pastime shortens the wait for the holidays and awakens anticipation. This craft idea is suitable for children from the age of three if one of the "grown-ups" helps with the preparations. The material costs next to nothing, the base is made from old cardboard. Scraps of wool or ribbon can be found in almost every household and it's worth having a look in the craft box for decorations. And you're ready to go.
Craft utensils required
- Cardboard or cardboard; the sturdier the better
- A pencil and a ruler
- Craft scissors
- Wool scraps or ribbon in bright colors
- Glue
- Colorful decorative material for decorating (stars, beads, small buttons, felt or paper balls, flowers, foam rubber, paper scraps)
This is how it works: Craft instructions step by step
-
Step 1
For the basic shape of your Christmas tree, draw a cone-shaped triangle on the cardboard and cut it out. The cardboard should be as thick and firm as possible so that your Christmas tree doesn't bend so quickly when you're making it.
I'm sure someone from the "grown-ups" can help you with this. -
Step 2
Cut a small notch in the edge. Clamp the end of your wool thread or ribbon into this notch. Then wrap the ribbon or wool around the triangle in a criss-cross pattern. If you don't want it to be too loose, tape it down in a few places.

Step 3
Now you can start decorating your Christmas tree in a colorful way. You can use anything you like for this: a star for the top of the Christmas tree, mini felt balls, scraps of paper, foam rubber, old buttons and much more. Have a look at what you can find in the craft box. You can also make small balls yourself from crepe paper, for example.
-
Step 4
Stick everything firmly onto your Christmas tree. That's it! And now you have your own colorful work of art in your hands.
You can do everything with it!
Your homemade cardboard Christmas tree is a real eye-catcher that you can hang on the wall in your room, for example. Or you can stick your colorful Christmas tree onto a greetings card. Your craft will become holiday mail that grandma and grandpa will be just as happy about as your aunts and uncles or friends.
You can also carefully thread a string through the top and bang, a pretty homemade Christmas tree ornament is ready.
You're sure to come up with even more possible uses!
